Newest Painting

Since I’ve been on a roll I’ve decided to start my brother’s girlfriend’s present.

She, like me, loves Leonid Afremov’s artworks. So again I did an impression of one of his works. Not too difficult since I already like to paint in this style.

This is the original I’m going after.

I think that oil paints would work better, but since my two year old has control over me…I will be using acrylic paint. Also my canvas board is 8×10…I think.

Place my colors.

I did sketch it out…somewhat. I figured out the direction of the path…and where the light posts would be. Also the tree.

Pretty basic

Slowly becoming something.

If I hadn’t had put the light posts,..I probably would have just gone with my layout and painted something completely different. But nope. I’ll do that next time!

My colors are not as vibrant as the original. I might use some yellow oil paint to bring that brightness to it.

I love painting with the globs of paint technique.

It is one of my favorite ways. I really want to try it on a bigger scale and do the “dot” technique, but still with this similar way. I think that would be fun.

Painting again is getting my creative juices flowing!! I’m having a million ideas a minute…!!

Done for day one.

The first picture was taken at 12:57pm. And the last picture was taken at 2:57pm! This only took me two hours. Which keep in mind. That was a few potty breaks for the baby, and occasionally getting her food to consume. (I have to feed my baby; even if my mind is elsewhere.)

But I’ll post my finished painting separate or on this post. Whichever happens first.

Well it seems like it will be h to us post!

Finished!

I think I personally liked it better before…but I’m doing an impression of someone else’s work…I still like it. It just seems less me. Which happens when you paint other’s works; you notice differences.

I’m starting my sister’s painting present next. I might bring a twist to the original though, maybe take the concept but the execution will be all me!

Have a wonderful Tuesday! 🌷

(I think what is making me not like the finished painting is the lighting I used to take the photo…) That must be it….let me take another one…

Mwahahahaha!

Yep now that’s better. I like it again!

They Cometh…

Haha! I like to add th to words. Have you every added th to a conversation. People think you are crazy or channeling your inner Shakespeare.

Anyways, back on topic. Again, I was about to do the Word of the day but it was sophistry. Nothing was coming to mind. So I did a poem based on my feelings instead.

This house needs,

To be spotless and clean.

The floors to glisten,

And surfaces to shimmer.

Done deeds,

Shall be seen.

Like a competition;

Desperate for a glimmer,

Of approval.

Will she accept?

Will I receive praise?

Excitement and dread,

Battling inside.

I’m adding fuel,

Why does she have this effect?

Master of the gaze,

Carefully tread.

Frantically searching,

For the explanation guide.

My in-laws are visiting. This is to describe the first time my mother-in-law visited our house. I went crazy! I’ve now reached the stage of: get the house clean, but don’t stress too much. Instead fill their bellies with delicious food, and put them in food comas! Haha 😂

I am sure every girl who has a mother-in-law understands this poem. We go through so much for the approval; it’s like it is the meaning of survival…

But this visit will be fun. My sweet sweet has her Papa and Nana visiting her. She was so excited, that she started to behave like a puppy when they got to the house. She is so odd; definitely my daughter though.

Enjoy your Sunday! I will be going on vacation. I’ll be trying to post; but I may just enjoy myself instead. We shall see.

Dun dun dunnnnnnnn!

Journey With Cookbooks #19

So I volunteered to help decorate and set up our VBS at our church. I left at 3:30pm, and didn’t get home until 7:00pm. I had thought I would either come home to an already fed baby and hubby, with a slim chance there would be food for me too…!

Nope. Neither. The hubby didn’t feed the baby until I got home. And on top of that he was going to go to McDonald’s, but because of the fluke storm he didn’t. Which I am happy about. Watching calories and eating at McDonald’s do not go hand in hand.

Get my tunes going for this long night!

So I scoured the web looking for an easy recipe that would go well with baked fries. The hubby insisted on fries. Can’t blame him. They are delicious.

Only 2 reviews and 2 ratings…let’s try it.

I decided on chicken, because when it is frozen it defrosts faster than beef. Also since I chose chicken I needed a recipe with a cast iron skillet. So naturally I typed into google, “BBQ Chicken recipe in cast iron.” This one is what I chose.

Looks yummy!

I selected it mostly for the cook time. But did you see the time it was… 8:20pm. That’s when we were eating dinner. It took me about 1 hr to have dinner done. Not something you want to do after a long afternoon.

So the chicken.

The recipe called for 4 chicken breast, but I only ever use 2. I decided to cut them in half and half again. It gave me about 8 pieces. This way they would cook faster.

You rub garlic and salt all over the chicken. I must have looked like a strange person massaging the garlic and salt into the chicken. Haha 😂

I only cooked half at a time.

I didn’t want it to be too difficult to cook them evenly. Just took a couple more minutes than planned.

Fries in the oven.

There were a few waffle fries leftover and some other kind of fry that looked more generic.

The good stuff!

The recipe called for BBQ sauce…so I used our favorite. This BBQ sauce is Eli’s meaning of life. Haha 😂

Oooooo!

Yum, yum, yum! 🤤

🧐

It seems like some of the fries are gone… the hubby decided to test and make sure they were not poisonous. He gave the all clear.

Yummy!

I added a salad for a healthier look. But it is lettuce I grew from my garden! 😎

Look Like Photo: 9. I give it a nine because I didn’t have the chipotle seasoning which would turn the chicken the reddish hue. So other than the red it is similar.

Taste: The fries as always were delicious. 10 for the fries. The chicken was good, but it didn’t wow me. Maybe a 7 for the chicken. The chipotle seasoning probably would have helped. But it was healthier than McDonald’s.

Easiness: 10. The longest part was defrosting the chicken. It truly was a simplistic recipe. I know I said it took me an hour to finish dinner, but 30min of that was the defrosting part.

Overall a simple easy dinner. Which after the four hours of volunteering, that is what I needed.

My Brain Is Frazzled…

I thought my life was crazy before, but not anymore. I can already feel the stress coming. Things are going to be different. My groove will be destroyed. My schedule…gone…

But even with all these changes, I still managed to bake some brownies for church tomorrow.

My normal brownie recipe, but in brownie bite form!

And at least with church tomorrow I can step away from home and put Elizabeth in Sunday school and have some time by myself in God’s house.

Again I say… please pray for my sanity. ❤️😂🙏

Old to new…

I found this old present my mother gave to me, and of course it became another thing I didn’t finish…but it doesn’t mean I won’t finish it now.

It’s a great thing for an artist, because it stimulates your brain and makes you draw new and different things…

I’m never not doing art. Some way or another I have art in my life. 😊

Cheyenne to Home.

Well our journey has come to an end. I am especially going to miss Wyoming; I love it here. Even though the job fell through this time does not mean we are done. God must have said not yet, so we will wait for when he says go ahead.

We had another chill day today. We woke up late, got some IHOP for breakfast!!!😎, then strolled through town looking for small nick-nacks to give to our siblings/ family.

I am happy to know that I am able to live in another state, and miss it so much. That means that eventually we will live somewhere outside of a city. We just have to be patient…😬

Someday 💕

I’ve been gone for awhile…life has just been in full throttle for the past 5 months. You know when you begin something new and it consumes you and you allow it to swallow up your existence. I’ve done this and I an extremely happy!!

I’m happy is all I can say right now! 😊❤️
